Bernice Phillips Foti entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 16, 1923. Mrs. Foti was a resident of Harahan, Louisiana since 1956. She met the love of her life, the late Clarence Dominick Foti in 1945. They were married in 1946, for 57 years. Daughter of the late William J. and Estella Burns Phillips. She is survived by 4 children, Gerard ""Jerry"" J. Foti, Sr. (Stephanie), Elizabeth F.""Betty"" Bittel (Thomas), Elaine F. Conzonere (Anthony), and Diane F. Tortomase (Joseph.) Also survived by 11 grandchildren, Gerard J. Foti, Jr. (Sommer), Anthony M. Conzonere, Jr. (Aleysha), Nathan D. Conzonere (Michelle), Thomas R. Bittel, Jr. (Colleen), Joseph J. Tortomase, III, Jason D. Tortomase, Stephanie C. Carey (Jeffery), Jenna E. Tortomase, Marissa N. Foti, Dominick C. Foti, and Derrick J. Foti. Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Nicholas C. Leggio, Shai F. McGehee (Adli), Dante, Andre, Sebastian, Julian, and Sophia Conzonere, Aidan Carey, and one great-great grandson, Benjamin McGrath. Survived by one sister, Ethel P. LeBoeuf Slayden. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Marc C. Bittel, one great-great granddaughter, infant Jaylie E. McGrath, and six brothers, William, Edward, Mason, Charles, Alvin and Walter Phillips. Bernice was a graduate of Redemptorist High School. She was an excellent cook and received great pleasure in feeding all those she loved. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family of Bernice would like to sincerely thank all her neighbors who assisted her in the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the World War II museum, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or to the Harahan Food Bank. Visitation will be held at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, October 22, 2016, beginning at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in the chapel, at 12:00 PM.
