In memory of
Bernard E. May Sr.
Bernard E. May, Sr. 95, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on April 10, 2017. Bernie was a pro golfer, and taught golf for many years. He had 13 holes-in-one to his credit, his last at the age of 89. He proudly served our country in WWII, from North Africa and Anzio Beach, to the Battle of the Bulge. He was an avid artist, having attended the Herron School of Art. Bernie never turned-down a request for a custom-made poster, and took great pride and pleasure in his creations. Bernie was a member of Tab Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into his home as a friend. He loved to make people laugh. He had many, many talents, but much humility. He was known for his sense of humor and giving spirit to all who knew him. Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Mary Ellen May; children, Bernie May, Jr., Janie Parr, and Thomas May (Maureen); 4 grandchildren, Steve May, Britney May-Kanan (Steph), Eric Parr, and Nicholas Parr (Allie); 5 great-grandchildren, Quentin May, Danica Carlson, Zach Carlson, Mya May, and Perry Kanan; sisters, Nina Gibson and Elizabeth Dunlap; with over 40 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles C. and May May; grandson, Jeffrey C. May; siblings, Margaret, Hazel, Isabelle, Pauline, William, Leonard, Clifford, Robert, and John Douglas. The family would like to thank the VA and Season's Hospice teams and also the Tab Church family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Tab Presbyterian Church Recreational Program. Calling will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. with memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 E 34th St, Indianapolis.
