Bernard W. Geiman
Bernard W. Geiman, age 90 of Carleton, died at 11:56 a.m. Sunday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home. He will lie in state at 10:30 a.m. until services at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Rev. Jeffrey Heimsoth, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 1138, Monroe. Born December 4, 1925 in Monroe, he was the son of the late Walter and Rosie (Whipstock) Geiman. He married Wilma Lay on May 8, 1948 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Bernie served in the European Theater while serving his country in U.S. Army during World War II from March 29, 1944 until being honorably discharged on June 3, 1946. Bernie was employed at Dundee Cement for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He was a life member of Maybee VFW Post 4361 and Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. His favorite hobbies included gardening, playing Euchre, and socializing. Bernie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Wilma Geiman; four sons, Bernard (Kathy) Geiman, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, Robert Geiman of Maybee, Dennis (Lynn) Geiman of Monroe, and Jeffery Geiman of Monroe; a daughter, Beverly Geiman of Monroe; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bernie was also preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Morley, and Clifford Geiman, and a grandson.
