BERNARD FEINER October 18, 1922 - May 4, 2016 In Loving Memory on his 94th Birthday Bernie was an honorable, kind, thoughtful and charitable man. He believed passionaltely in the importance of public service, and following graduation (Phi Beta Kappa) from City College in New York and Columbia Law School, he embarked on what was to be a long and distinguished career in government service, mostly with the old Department of Health, Education and Welfare. He was the Department's Regional Attorney for the San Francisco-based district, where he earned H.E.W's highest commendation, the Distinguished Service Award. Later he returned to Washington, DC to serve as Assistant General Counsel for Administrative Law. H.E.W's Secretary, Joseph Califano, described Bearnie as an "authentic gentleman, a person of utmost decency and good will, whose considerable legal skills were more than matched by the quality of his character and his career were founded". Bernie was pre-deceased by his brother, Jacob, who served with the 28th Infantry Division and died in Germany in 1945. He is survived and mourned by his sister and her husband, Isabel and Joseph Kouri of Peeksville, NY. May his memory be a blessing.
