Bernard Castleberg
Bernard "Bernie" Lutzie Castleberg, 82, of Brownsville passed away Thursday. He was born in Maxville Prairie, Wisconsin to Lutzie and Ruth (Gibson) Castleberg. He attended college at Humbolt State in Eureka, California. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Stutgurt Germany for two years. After Bernie's service he and Kathleen Burt eloped in 1957. They were both from Wisconsin but had met at Mt. Sac High School years earlier. Bernie worked at the Bureau of Land Management in Ukiah, California for 19 years. He attended the United Methodist church in Halsey, Oregon and spent many mornings getting together with members of his church group for breakfast at Pioneer Villa. Bernie is survived by his son Russell and his wife Karen Allen Castleberg; three brothers: Robert, Roger and Curtis Castleberg. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Myra Castleberg and one sister Cleo Anderson. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com
