In memory of
Bernadette Carla Holt passed away on Oct. 15, 2016, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, with her family by her side. She wished to be laid to rest in Kotlik, Alaska, next to her parents. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Costley; her brothers, Mike and John Williams; and by her parents, Rudolph Williams Sr. and Flora Williams. She is survived by her husband, Brett Holt of Kenai, Alaska; her sons, Eli and Norman; her daughter, Rebecca; her sisters, Mary Paukan of St. Mary's, Alaska, and Helen Levshakoff and Agatha Hopstad of Bethel, Alaska; Esther Williams of Anchorage; brothers, Rudolph Williams Jr. and George Williams of Kotlik; and many more nieces and nephews. Bernadette was born on Dec. 17, 1963, in Bethel, Alaska. She was raised in Hamilton, Alaska, until 1973, when her family moved to Kotlik, Alaska, after a fire destroyed the local school. She then attended St. Mary's Catholic High School from 1978 through 1981, during which, she spent her summers commercial fishing and helping her family gather food for the season. After her graduation in 1981, she went to college at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she studied business management and played hockey. In between play and study, she worked at the Alaska Commercial Company store in Kotlik. Bernadette met Brett at the University in Fairbanks in 1987, and after a short courtship, were married in October 1988. That same year, the newlyweds moved to San Diego, Calif., where Brett was stationed in the Navy. While living there, they had Eli and Norman, and then had Rebecca after moving to Kenai, Alaska, in 1992, where their family lived ever since. Bernadette, a very caring sister, mother and wife, had many lovable qualities beyond recognition, but the one thing that stood out the most, was her joy for making people happy. There will be a viewing in Anchorage at Legacy Funeral Chapel, 17075 S Bragaw St. Anchorage, AK 99508, on Oct. 19, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. The burial will be on Oct. 22, 2016, in Kotlik. There will be a memorial service in Kenai, Alaska, on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at 7 p.m., at Star of the North Lutheran Church. The family wishes to extend thanks to Liberty Dialysis of Anchorage, and the Renal Care Unit at Providence Hospital of Anchorage. We thank all the people that have helped during this devastating and emotional farewell to Bernadette.
