Benjamin L. B. Ten Eyck
Benjamin L. B. Ten Eyck Benjamin Lansing Boyd Ten Eyck, 85, died peacefully September 16, 2016 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC. Born April 18, 1931 in Larchmont, NY, he was the son of retired U.S. Army Major Benjamin Lansing Ten Eyck, MD and Marie Antoinette Boyd Ten Eyck. He graduated from the Choate School and Yale University where he played varsity ice hockey and tennis, and played the baritone horn in the Yale marching band. Ben served in the U.S. Army, 4th Field Artillery from 1954 - 56, where he also played hockey. After the Army, he continued his thirty-three year career with Eastman Kodak Co. as an industrial engineer. While with Kodak, he earned a Masters in Business from the University of Rochester. He married the love of his life, Jane Fairfax Gouverneur in 1954. He is survived by his wife of 61 years and three sons: Benjamin Boyd Ten Eyck, Thomas Jeffress Ten Eyck (Mary Lee Sears), Peter Fairfax Ten Eyck (Lisa Smith); grandchildren Paul and Leigh Caruana and Anna Fairfax Ten Eyck. He served on the vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rochester, NY. An avid tennis player, he served on the board of the Tennis Club of Rochester and for many years was a fixture in the YMCA Love-15 tennis program for city youth in Rochester, NY. At Fripp Island, SC he was a volunteer firefighter, President of the Audubon Club and a wildlife volunteer at Hunting Island State Park. Ben was a skilled photographer, particularly wildlife, both on land and underwater. He was a faithful member of The Parish Church of St. Helena's and a devoted servant of Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:30 am at The Parish Church of St. Helena's in Beaufort, SC with burial in St. Helena Cemetery.
