Beatrice L. Rolfe
ORWELL - Beatrice Luther Rolfe, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury. She was born Dec. 5, 1921, in East Shoreham, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Fowler) Luther. She graduated in 1941 from Brandon High School. She worked at Newton-Thompson Wooden Toy Manufacturing Co. in Forest Dale. On Feb. 11, 1943, she married Dan Parmelee Rolfe in Brandon. She and her husband owned and operated the family farm in Breeze Mills until 1960, opened Rolfe's Marina in Orwell and later purchased and operated Chipman Point Marina. Mr. Rolfe died June 23, 2007. Mrs. Rolfe was active in the Orwell 4-H Club and a member of the Fort Nightly Club, Congregational Church and helped organize the Memorial Day Parade. She enjoyed her trip to Hawaii, traveling, sewing, gardening and canning. Survivors include a son, Dan Rolfe, of Orwell; two daughters, Linda Coley, of Ticonderoga, New York, and Gene Danforth of Bradford; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two siblings, Florence Carrara and Alfred "Buster" Luther. Private burial be at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Orwell First Response Squad or Orwell Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 124, Orwell, VT 05760. Arrangements are by Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
