Beatrice "Bea" (Johnston) Leriche, 89, of North Port, FL, formerly of Salem and Derry, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 31st, 2016 in North Port, FL. Bea was born in Salem, NH, the daughter of the late John and Hannie (Haynes) Johnston. She was educated in Salem, attended Woodbury High School during WW II and attained her GED years later. As a young woman and mother of two, she worked at the Rockingham Race Track as a telephone switchboard operator/office worker. She also worked as office manager of her husband's growing construction business. With her husband, they owned and operated local Dairy Queens. Bea was also active with the state and local Republican Party. She was predeceased in 2002 by her beloved husband of 56 years, Arnold, her brothers Joseph and Sidney Woodcock, and brother and life-long best friend John "Jack" T. Johnston. Survivors include her son, Arnold L. Leriche, Jr, of Oscoda, MI, daughter JoAnne and husband Thomas Porter of Derry, NH, daughter Cheryl and husband Dean Maxwell of Roswell, GA, six grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services are private for the family. Interment of ashes will occur at a later date at Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH. In lieu of flowers, Bea expressed wishes that donations be made to the United Professional Firefighters of Derry, PO Box 757, Derry, NH 03038.
