Major Barry William Muth, 59, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017, with his family and loved ones by his side at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Barry was born on June 7th, 1958. In 1999, the WestPoint graduate was paralyzed in an accident in Saudi Arabia. After his injury, Barry participated in a local wheel chair rugby team, along with competing in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games. In 2003, Barry was part of the largest disabled group to make it to the base camp of Mount Everest. Barry became the Executive Director of COIL CDC. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Dee; their three children, Evan, Ashley, and Barry Jr. and wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Savannah and Vivienne. He is also survived by his mother, Marilyn; sister, Marlene; and brother, John. Barry will forever be remembered for the inspirational light he shed on the many lives he touched. Services: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to COIL CDC or the San Antonio Paralyzed Veterans Association. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Porter Loring North Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00am at Crown of Life Lutheran, with a reception to follow.
