Barbara Day Willard Steele, 79, of Ecru, MS, passed away on February 10, 2017, surrounded by her family at Church Street Manor in Ecru, MS. She was a member and piano player at Turnpike Baptist Church in Pontotoc, MS. Barbara was born on September 10, 1937 to the late Glover E. and Frances Bryant Day. She attended Ecru School. She married the late Johnny H. Willard in 1956. She worked at the Credit Bureau in Oxford, MS for twenty years. In 1986, she went to work for her great nephew, Steve Russell, at NAPA in Pontotoc, MS. She was the bookkeeper at NAPA from 1986-2010. Later in life, she married Jimmy Steele from Endville, MS. Barbara enjoyed going to church, going to singings, cooking, playing the piano, dancing and painting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her grands and great grandchildren. Services will be Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2PM at Turnpike Baptist Church. Bro. Pete Gregory will officiate. Burial will follow in Turnpike Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements. Survivors: one son-Randall J. Willard(Beverly) of Pontotoc; grandchildren-Brandi Willard Westmoreland(Jody) of Ecru and Brittany Willard of Pontotoc; great grandchildren-Brennan Westmoreland, Cason Westmoreland and Jett Westmoreland, all of Ecru; one step brother-Brad Windham of Pontotoc, special niece-Tammy Matthews(Donald) and nephew-Greg Cox(Traci), all of Pontotoc; several brothers and sisters in law; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: her mother and father-Glover and Frances Day; brother-Mack Day, sister-Peggy Cox Pound; nephew-Mark Day; husbands-John Willard and Jimmy Steele. Visitation will be Saturday, February 11, 2017 5-8PM and Sunday, February 12, 2017 12PM until service time, all at Turnpike Baptist Church.
