In memory of
Barbara H. Hall, 85, died on January 22, 2017 after a brief illness, with family and friends gathered to support her and each other. Barbara said she lived three different lives, all good, but different. The first one started at birth in Hobbs, New Mexico. Barbara grew up in the Midland-Odessa area. Her parents Bryant and Minnie Rieta, whom Barbara loved and enjoyed immensely. She devoted her second life to her marriage to Jack Hall and raising four children in Deming, New Mexico. Jack's death in 1969 led to life number three, going back to college at NMSU, teaching elementary school in La Union and thriving in her new role as grandmother, counting herself fortunate to have all six grandchildren living in the vicinity of Las Cruces. Barbara also met Elwin Nun, and together they shared more than thirty years as soul mates with common interests: progressive thinking, cruising the world, and enjoying chocolate. Elwin and Barbara traveled to places she could only have imagined as a little girl growing up in West Texas. Barbara was the matriarch of an extended family that included her husband Elwin Nunn, her children, Karen Hall, Bryan Hall (Diana) Brenda Smith (Jim), and Glenn Hall (Theresa); her six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Barbara was also loved and admired by Elwin's three children (Mickey, Bryanne and Steve) and his grandchildren and great grandchild. Barbara lived all of her lives well, enjoyed the love and companionship of her family most of all, and was respected for her intelligence and gentle soul by those who knew her. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces.
