Barbara M. Farr
Barbara Mae (Parker) Farr, of California, passed away suddenly on Jan. 5, 2017, at the age of 83. Born in South Royalton, VT, on June 15, 1933, Barbara lived in Vermont until she graduated from the University of Vermont in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and married Lansing James Farr (deceased). They moved to California where Barbara worked as a reliability engineer at North America Aviation that later became Boeing where she retired in 1997. In her retirement, Barbara was very active as a volunteer with the Peninsula Friends of the Library and continued to stay in contact with her school friends from Vermont. She enjoyed activities and traveling with her friends, especially her longtime friends, Nancy Hightower (deceased), Carol Martinez and Eleanor Curry. Barbara is survived by her son, Shawn Farr (Shireen), of Carlisle, PA; daughter, Sherry Stukes (Bill), of Thousand Oaks, CA; grandson, Robert Stukes, of Camarillo, CA; and sister, Leona Hickey (Mark), of Proctor, VT. A graveside service will be held in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory can be made to the Peninsula Friends of the Library.
