Austin W. Akin
Akin, Austin W. , Akin, Austin W. "Dick", 88, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017 at Green Meadows Health Care Center. He was born in Greensburg, Kentucky on February 16, 1929 to Nora Wayne and Elliott Washington Akin. Surviving Austin are his wife of 48 years, Shirley Ann (Duggins), one son, Robert Akin (Brenda), three stepdaughters; Donna VanDeMark (John), Susan Matthews, and Lori Milburn (Troy), 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and dear friends. He is also preceded by several brothers and sisters. Austin served his country in the United States Army as a staff sergeant for 9 years during the Korean conflict. He was retired from Brown Forman. He was an avid outdoorsman, experiencing many memorable hunting trips with friends and family. He especially loved his hunting dogs, Gov and Lucy. Austin had a loving and smiling heart, never met a stranger, friend to many, a hardworking man who loved his family and friends. Austin was the "go to" guy, always ready to lend a hand. He will truly be missed. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Green Meadows Health Care for their loving care. His funeral will at 11 AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison at Barret Avenues with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
