August H. Sovay Army paratrooper and longtime Cranford resident, 85 August H. Sovay, 85, of Cranford, N.J., passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral services in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, N.J., at 9 a.m. Please be at the funeral home at 8 a.m. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. He was a paper handler for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Edison, N.J., for many years, retiring 23 years ago. Prior to that, he was a paint mixer for Sherwin-Williams in Newark, N.J. August served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army as a parachute trooper and a corporal. He was a member of Howard F. Schwartz Post 408 American Legion in Newark and the Union Elks BPOE Lodge 1583. He was predeceased by two dear brothers, Alfred and Robert Sovay. August is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Estelle L. "Babe" (Faddish) Sovay; three loving children, Kathleen Sovay, Diane Sovay Cotroneo and her husband, Andrew, and August R. Sovay and his wife, Margaret; five adored grandchildren, April, Stephanie, Andreana, Justin, and Brandon, and three cherished great-grandchildren, Blake, L. T., and Skyler.
