Agustina Ruiz Lucero was born in 1947 in Atopoltitlan, Puebla, Mexico. After meeting and marrying Angel they sought the better life in the States (Ukiah, CA). first Angel got established and then he sent for Agustina who made the harrowing trip to be with Angel. She used her keen photographic memory to cook complex, highly regarded indigenous dishes such as mole, tamales, almondigas, tortas de camarones, chile rellenos, adobo. Agustina loved cooking her distinguished dishes for her family and friends. She had a strong work ethic and worked along side Angel in intense seasonal work all the while caring for her eight kids.
