ROSSVILLE — Audrey Herod, 93, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at a local healthcare facility. She was employed by the Walker County Board of Education for 39 years of her 40 year career in public education, serving as classroom teacher, elementary school principal and system level administrator. Audrey was a 64 year member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an honorary society for women teachers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rossville for more than 60 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and in various other capacities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Ruth Pierce Herod; and sister, Mary Lois Herod. Survivors include several cousins, her church family and other treasured friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, with Rev. Paul Williams and Dr. David Tullock officiating. Interment will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with graveside honors being conducted by Delta Kappa Gamma.
