Arthur J. Merlo
NEW BRUNSWICK, New Jersey — Arthur J. Merlo, 91, died peacefully at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, New Jersey, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. Arthur was born in Mount Carmel and was a resident of North Brunswick since 1955. He was a plant worker for Delco Remy Battery Plant a division of General Motors in New Brunswick for 30 years and retired in 1984. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Peggy A. (McElwee) Merlo; two daughters, Michelle Barone, of North Brunswick, and Patricia Louise Merlo, of Mount Carmel; a daughter-in-law Marianne Merlo, of North Brunswick; two sons, Anthony James Merlo, of North Brunswick, and Michael Patrick Merlo and his wife, Bernadette, of Kulpmont; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Arthur is predeceased by his parents Mario and Victory (Friol) Merlo, sons Robert M. "Nort" Merlo Sr. and Harold Lee Merlo. MERLO — Arthur J. Merlo, 91, of New Brunswick, New Jersey. Cremation was private under the direction of the Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, New Jersey. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jacob's Well Church, 2000 Route 27, North Brunswick, NJ, 08902.
