In memory of
Arthur Joseph "Artie" Bundy
Arthur "Artie" Joseph Bundy passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017 in the presence of his niece Jackie Stevens. He celebrated his 89th birthday on January 6, 2017. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Artie shared a special bond with his niece Jackie Stevens and her children Walter and Barry Stevens. Jackie was a dedicated and devoted caregiver and a loving and caring niece. Her children Walter and Barry were an extension of her love and caring for Artie. He thought of them more as sons than grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Christian Bundy and Mary Agnes Gurgerson; his siblings Leona Botti (Joseph), Louis Bundy (Louise), Emelda Sherman (Sollie), Frederick Bundy (Grace), and Rita Steudlein (Wilfred). He served in the United States Army and received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. Artie was an employee of the Times-Picayune Newspaper in the pre-press department and retired after 39 years of service. He will be remembered by his family and friends as very thoughtful, caring, and generous. He loved St. Patrick's Day and Mardi Gras. Artie enjoyed sharing stories of growing up in his neighborhood and the years he spent in the Garden District Marching Club. A special "Thank You" to Sherrie Soule and Erin Corbino and all the staff at Joey K's Restaurant who took such special care of him at the restaurant and at his residence. Their friendship and kindness meant the world to him and he looked forward to his daily visits for lunch but especially to the friendship and kindness of the staff and the regular diners he enjoyed talking to. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Artie's Celebration of Life at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. There will be a Graveside Service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans for 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers you may choose to donate to your favorite charity in his name.
