Funeral services for Arlene Clatanoff, age 95, of Wisner, will be Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m., with the family present, at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Monday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Arlene passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at the Wisner Care Center. Arlene Wilhelmine Clatanoff was born Oct. 7, 1921, south of Stanton, to Ernest and Emma (Renner) Kersten. She was baptized Nov. 6, 1921, and later confirmed May 26, 1935, by Pastor Rudolph Norden at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Howells. Arlene attended rural school in Stanton County and St. John's Lutheran Parochial School. January 11, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ewald Clatanoff at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Howells. The couple was engaged in farming. After Mr. Clatanoff passed away, Arlene remained on the farm until moving to St. Joseph's Retirement Community in West Point and was currently residing at the Wisner Care Center. Arlene was a member of Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, its Ladies Aid, LWML and formerly sang in the church choir. She had also belonged to a Cuming County Extension Project Club. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include: Daughter, Beverly and husband Gaylord Wilcox of Howells, and family - Sara and David Hatterman and children-Nathan, Emily and Austin Hatterman; Jennifer and Colby Cox and children, Jonathan, Lincoln and Colton Cox; Shawn and Julie Wilcox and children, Carter and Caleb Wilcox; Jarod Wilcox and Kerry Emeigh and children, Elijah Wilcox, Carson Emeigh and Cole Emeigh; Daughter, Audrey and husband Darwin Holcomb of Sargent, and family - Tyson and Pam Holcomb and children, Kate and Laney Holcomb; Megan and John Svoboda and children, Lauren and Avery Svoboda; Sisters-in-law, Arlene Kersten of Howells, Dolores Horst of Wisner, Arlene Rabe of Omaha, and Marcelene Tonjes of Pender; Brother-in-law, Duane and wife Doris Clatanoff of Tucson, Ariz. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ewald on Oct. 27, 1989; and siblings, Ivan Kersten, Phyllis Marty and Gerald Kersten.
