Anthony R. Terranova Sr.
Anthony R. Terranova Sr. PALMER TWP. Anthony R. Terranova Sr., 88, of Palmer Township, passed away, Thursday Dec. 14, 2017. He was the husband of Donna (Weaver), and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past August. Born in Easton, PA, on Feb. 21, 1929, Anthony was a son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Mirabella) Terranova. He was the brother of John Sr., Sue Smith and Rose Salamone. Anthony graduated first in his class from Easton Area High School in 1946. He was an Army veteran, serving 18 months in Japan after World War II. In 1952, he graduated from Kutztown University with honors, earning a bachelor of science degree in education. He went on to become a geography and social studies teacher in the Wilson Area School District, where he taught for 35 years. Anthony was the president of the Teachers Association. In 1966, he earned a master of science degree in education from Temple University. He coached basketball for the Wilson district, and later at Northampton Community College. He ran the summer playground program for the City of Easton. Anthony retired from teaching in 1989, and worked part time at Louise Moore Park, and later part time for Easton Coach Company. Tony, known as "Squirt" to many, left his mark on this world. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He often received letters from past students and athletes, thanking him for his dedication to helping them succeed. He was well known locally for his softball talents. His canvas needlepoint projects and woodworking crafts were well known by all who loved him. He was a member of New Creation United Church of Christ in Palmer Township. He was an avid Easton football fan, never missing the chance to coach them from his recliner on a Friday night. He loved the Yankees and the Giants, win or lose. He loved reading, never missing trips to the library. He was very versed on politics, and was a die-hard Democrat. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Linda Zweifel and husband, Michael; Marsha Stinley and husband, David; Susan Terranova, Anthony Jr. and Diane Cressman. He was "Pappy" to 14 lucky grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He loved his life with Donna, his family, near and far, his friends, and his dog, Lola. One was a better person for having known him. He had a heart of gold, created a beautiful life for his family and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas St., Easton, PA. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
