ARCANGELO, ANTHONYAnthony Arcangelo, 91, of East Haven, formerly of James St., New Haven, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the VA Medical Center of West Haven. He was the husband of the late Charlotte Bissonette Arcangelo. He was born in New Haven on January 18, 1926 to the late Charles and Anna Esposito Arcangelo. He owned and operated Degnans Restaurant for 20 years until retiring in 1974. Anthony proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy aboard the USS Rolf. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, American Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Victory Medal during his tour of duty. He was also a member of the Italian American Club of Dallas, Texas, was an Officer in the Disabled American Veterans, Oak Cliff Chapter 32, also in Dallas, Texas and was also a member of the DAV here in Connecticut. He is survived by a daughter Debra (Ralph) Arcangelo-Vitale of East Haven, a sister, Carmel Petonito of Branford, brother-in-law Louis Pisaturo of East Haven and the light of his eye, his grandson Anthony Vitale. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph, James and John Arcangelo and two sisters, Frances Meizies and Nancy Pisaturo. Anthony's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the physicians and staff at the VA Medical Center of West Haven, as well as his care givers, Andrea, Tiiffany, Rosemary and Kelly, for wonderful care and compassion they gave to their dad and grandfather.The funeral will leave the East Haven Memorial Longobardi - Brennan, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708, Saturday morning at 9:30 for a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10 am. Burial with full military honors will take place at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Friends may call prior to the mass from 8:30 to 9:30 am.
