Anne P. Brush
STUART, Fla. - Anne Preston Brush died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, with her husband of 63 years by her side. She was 86 years old. Born and raised in Rutland, Vermont, Anne was the daughter of Irene (Potter) and Paul Lyman Preston, both of Rutland. After graduating from Rutland High School in 1947, Anne attended Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts, graduating with an Associate Degree in 1949. While employed by the Hartford Accident Indemnity Co., Anne married Charles Young Brush, also from Rutland, in the First Methodist Church of Rutland on June 13, 1953. After raising their family and living throughout the Northeast, in 1985, they moved from Westport, Connecticut, to Stuart, Florida. Anne took great pride in her Vermont heritage, and loved Florida, its climate, people and amenities. She was an avid golfer and a loyal fan of the Yankees, Celtics and of both Dale Earnhardts. Among her many sterling attributes was her stoicism contending with emphysema and her immense devotion to her family. Anne is survived by her husband, Charles; son Peter and wife Libby of Hartford, Connecticut; daughter Kim Brush Schwarz and husband Jeff of Harvard, Massachusetts; and son Andrew and wife Stephanie of Jupiter, Florida. She leaves five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her burial will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery at Rutland, Vermont. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Treasure Coast Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Aycock Funeral Home, Stuart, Florida.
