Funeral services for Anna Mae Thompson, 94, were held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Christ Gospel Church, Jeffersonville. Burial followed at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in 1922, in Lewis, Del. Anna was married to Rev. Bill Thompson, the love of her life, and they were married for 70 years before Bill's passing in 2013. Anna met Bill on the school bus 85 years ago and they had been together ever since. They dated through high school and college, and were married after both had graduated. Anna was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from Blackstone College in Virginia with an Associate Degree in General Studies. Anna enjoyed playing the piano, singing and traveling. She was a deeply devoted member of Christ Gospel Church for 45-plus years. Anna always had a smile on her face and a kiss for everyone. Survivors include her two sons, Robert (Bonnie) and James (Jeanne); four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William E. Thompson; parents, John and Catherine Freeman; siblings, Theodore Freeman, Jack Freeman and Betty Freeman. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Christ Gospel Church International.
