In memory of
Anna Marie Talks
Anna Marie Talks passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017. She was surrounded by her children, Howard Talks Jr., his wife, Carol, and daughter Anna LaMontagne, and her grandchildren Dustin LaMontagne and Derek LaMontagne and his wife, Liva. Her other grandchildren are Tiffany, Ryan, Kevin and Catherine Talks. Anna was 95 years young. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, July 17, 1921. She was the oldest of five siblings who all preceded her in death. She has many nieces and nephews who all loved her very much. Anna grew up in New York City and loved visiting all the magnificent sights. She married her high school sweetheart, Howard Talks, and spent 60 happy years together. Anna was her high school's Valedictorian and was on the traveling math team, Latin and Greek clubs, and the girls' basketball team. She went on to get a full scholarship to Queens College and graduated at the top of her class. Her major was political science, and she dreamed of becoming a lawyer. Even though she loved reading, after taking a few pre-law classes she decided that reading law books was too boring for her. She loved to be out and about, not spending all day behind a desk, so she applied for the New York City police academy and was accepted. For years, she got to spend every day traveling all over Manhattan working with juvenile delinquent girls. She loved her job and found it very rewarding. It was always Anna and Howard's dream to move to Florida when they retired which they did in 1974. Anna loved the sunshine and they spent as much time outdoors as they could. After their children were grown, Anna and Howard spent the rest of their time traveling all over the country, and visiting friends and relatives. Anna had a great and long life. In her lifetime, she remembered when they first installed electricity in her parents' house, the Great Depression, WWII, the invention of television, rockets to the moon to the computer age. She was always optimistic, loved life and was happy every single day. The viewing will be held at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Dr., Port Orange, on Monday, April 17, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
