Anna "Mom" Petsche (nee Koenig) of Sheffield Township, formerly of Avon, passed away April 17, 2017 at the age of 99 at Avon Oakes Nursing Home. Ann was born January 4, 1918 to George and Anna Koenig (nee Gliebe) in Cleveland. She attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Cleveland. On June 10, 1939 she married Alfred J. Petsche. They lived in Cleveland until they moved to Avon in 1944. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Avon. When her children were in school at St. Mary's, she was President on the Altar and Rosary Society, President of the PTU and Pres-Sec. of St. Francis Xaxier Mission Circle # 28. Ann went to live with her daughter AnnMarie and son-in-law Kenneth Barr. She became a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Parish. She was a devout Catholic praying the rosary daily and watching the daily Mass on EWTN. She loved her family and friends many of whom called her "Mom". She enjoyed Donut Sunday at Church, picnics and parties, going out to eat, rides in the car and playing Rummicube with her granddaughter, Theresa. She will be dearly missed by her sons Alfred G. (Mary) Petsche, John (Lee); daughter AnnMarie (Ken) Barr; 9 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 2 great-granddaughters; daughter-in-law Sue Petsche; and many nieces and nephews. Ann joins her husband Alfred; son George; parents George and Anna Koenig (nee Gliebe); sisters Lillian Holpit, Helen Nagy, Marie Blasee Josephine Taddeo; and brother John Morsher. In celebration of Ann's life, she requests visitors wear colorful attire.The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy New Life Hospice, Avon Oakes Nursing Home and the Sheffield Township rescue squad for the tender care they gave to Mom. The family will receive friends on Thursday April 20, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the MISENCIK FUNERAL HOME, 36363 Detroit Rd. Avon where closing prayers will be at 9:10 am on Friday followed by a 10:00 am at St. Vincent DePaul Parish, 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Avon.
