Ann (Sopko) Lopatich, 90, of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Oct. 11, 1926, in Loyalhanna, she was a daughter of the late Steve N. Sopko and Eva (Polinsky) Sopko. Ann was a member of Holy Family Church, Latrobe. Along with her husband, they co-founded the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc., Oct. 11, 1958, where she integrally helped her husband and sons for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Lopatich, Sept. 27, 2008; one sister, Mary Lou Karasack; and one brother, Stephen M. Sopko. Ann is survived by two sons, John S. Lopatich and his wife, Charlene, of Unity Township, and Joseph P. Lopatich, and Betsy, of Latrobe; two daughters, Mary M. Piecyk and her husband, Thomas, of Philadelphia, and Anita A. Cox and her husband, Mark, of Latrobe; five loving grandchildren, Meghan Holland and her husband, Todd, Aaron Lopatich, Rachel Piecyk and twins, Matthew Cox and Christopher Cox; one great-grandson, Max Holland; a sister-in-law, LaVerne Sopko, of Latrobe; a very special cousin, Mary Ann Liberoni and her husband, Tony, and family; and she is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Steven Selip for his excellent care, the staff of Excela Health Latrobe Hospital and Excela Health Home Care & Hospice, especially Lois Wozny, for their attention and compassion, and her longtime caregivers Joann, Lois and Sheila, for all of their kind help. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Rose Church, Latrobe. Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery.
