ANN MARIE (MORTHORST) KOONTZ, 62, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away on Wednesday Oct. 12, 2016, in Fort Wayne, after a brave lifelong battle against juvenile diabetes. Ann was born Sept.13, 1954 to the late Harold and Marilyn (Aurentz) Morthorst. She was married on Sept. 29, 1979 in Fort Wayne, to Mike Koontz, her devoted husband. Ann graduated from Bishop Luers High School, Purdue University and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She spent the majority of her professional life in finance, most of which was at Wells Fargo bank. Ann was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She loved her many years spent on Adam's Lake with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending girl time with daughters Katie and Megan and was afforded more time thanks to Megan's kidney donation in December 2015. Surviving are her two daughters, Katie (Eric) Rentschler and Megan (Chris Copley) Koontz; and beloved dog Jake; as well as her brothers, Tom (Patty) Morthorst, Joe (Stephanie) Morthorst, Andy (Karen) Morthorst; sister-in-law, Heidi Harriett (Jerry Morthorst); and in-laws, Al (Irma) Koontz, Tom (Mary Ann) Koontz, and Karen (Tim) Zehr. Mass of Christian Resurrection is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 10700 Aboite Center Rd., with calling two hours prior. Visitation is also from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. Private burial in the Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
