Angelica Chavez Lazo, 97, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, earned her heavenly wings to join her beloved husband, Joe M. Lazo Sr., in eternal glory on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016. Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary: 6 p.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet. Angelica, born Dec. 7, 1918, in Granjeno (Mission), Texas, married the love of her life on Oct. 7, 1936. They moved to Fort Worth as quickly as they could in 1943 in a "covered Plymouth" as Joe often said. Together they raised seven children. Angelica loved and was most proud of her family, imparting to each a strong work ethic, honor and values. Savvy about good cooking, she was well-known at Lazo's Fine Foods, downtown Fort Worth for a decade. In addition to sharing the local political scene with her husband, Angelica enjoyed a lucky streak as the "Bingo Queen." The family extends thanks to the caring staff at Heritage House in Keller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, who passed away in 2005 and she missed him every day; daughter, Irene; son, Richard; and three brothers. Survivors: To cherish her memory, she leaves her children and their families, sons, Arthur (Juanita), Ernest (Mary), Joe Jr. (Rosie); daughters, Dora Mendez (Nash), Gloria Torres (Arnold) and Lisa Herndon (David); 22 loving grandchildren; several generations of great-grandchildren; sisters, Lupe Quintanilla and Luz Canales; and numerous other family and friends.
