ST. CHARLES - Andrew Thomas Surratt, age 76, formerly of Medinah, IL, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Arden Courts in Geneva, IL. He was born January 10, 1940 in Corinth, Mississippi, the son of the late Earl and Ruby Surratt. Andrew was an Army Veteran (1956-1959); he was stationed in Germany in the 168th Combat Engineering Battalion. He was an avid pilot and started and owned PilotMakers Flying School at DuPage Airport from 1995 to 2005 and was co-founder of 14 Echo Flying Club. He also was a captain in the Civil Air Patrol. His memberships include DuPage Pilots Association, Chicago Flight Instructor Association, Elgin Rifle Club, Aurora Sportmen's Club, St. Charles American Legion Post #342 and St. Charles AmVets Post #503. He enjoyed researching his family's genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Joanne. Two children, Michael Surratt and Andrea (Robert) Schooley; four grandchildren: Joshua Blevins, Dawn (Chris) Endicott, Anthony (Stephanie) Surratt and Logan Schooley; and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Martha Northcutt, Gerald Surratt and Brenda (Tom) Gutekunst; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Inna Gorin Surratt. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Route 38), Geneva, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
