Andrea Frances Ortiz 1956 - 2017 Andrea Frances Ortiz passed away January 16, 2017 from pneumonia complications. Andrea was a former City Council Woman for Ward 7. Andrea was born May 4, 1956 in Riverside, CA. After graduating from Ramona High School she married the love of her life Neno M. Ortiz. Together they decided Oregon would make a wonderful place to live and raise a family despite the fact Andrea had an opportunity to attend Stanford in California. Andrea's work history includes Saturday Market, Register-Guard, 28 years at PeaceHealth. Andrea's love for her family and children eventually branched out into the community. Her ever growing social conscience inspired her to become involved in many community organizations. She served on Bethel School Board of Directors, Eugene Human Rights Commission, Eugene Police Commission, PeaceHealth OR Diversity Team, Bethel Weed & Seed Steering Committee, Trainsong Neighbors, Children First, as well as her 2 terms as Ward 7 City Council Woman. Andrea's current assignments were Eugene Budget committee, ODOT Beltline study, serving on Kids First Board, all while continuing to work at Sacred Heart Medical Center as an Emergency Department Ward Clerk. Andrea is survived by her husband Neno Ortiz Sr., 3 sons Neno Ortiz Jr., Raoul (Keri) Ortiz, and Emilio Ortiz; a daughter Dana was lost previously at birth. Andrea is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Cruz, Isela, and Bobby Ortiz as well as 5 sisters Cruz Magdaleno, Elsie Munoz, Ofelia Serles, Chris Carranza, Felicitas Caballero and a brother Michael Monreal as well as many extended family members she opened her home to. She will be remembered and missed dearly by many as a passionate loving humanitarian who fought for the rights of women, children & the underprivileged. A Mass will be held noon May 1st at St. Mary's Catholic Church followed by a Celebration of Life at St. Mary's Hall.
