Alton Gene Mathis, 57, embraced Glory on February 09, 2017 at MD Andersons Cancer Center. He was born on December, 11, 1957 to the proud parents Lilian Ruth Mathis-Sherman and Charles Wesley Mathis. He graduated from the Conroe High and pursued a career in the police force, after graduating from the police academy. He worked for the Sherriff Dept. for many years and retired. He worked alongside Mike as his bailer and warrant server any other job that was needed. He also provided security for Willis High School which he also, retired. He coach little league for many years (baseball, softball, and football.) He own a logging, cleaning and lawnmower company which he was active in until his health failed. He was deeply active into taking care and working for the community of Montgomery County. He help raise many of his nieces and nephews throughout his life, never closed a door on anyone. Alton G. Mathis was a devoted Father, Grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend. He was a wonderful example of dedication, perseverance and Love. Alton Gene Mathis was preceded in death by her parents Lilian Ruth Mathis-Sherman and Charles Wesley Mathis, Daughter Leslie Mathis Brother: Calvin Mathis, 2 Uncles :Carl Sherman and John Sherman. Alton Gene Mathis leaves to mourn and cherish his love and memories: Wife Beretta L. Mathis, 3 Sons: Ernest L. Woods II (Corrie), Cleavon "Baba" Woods (LeTitia) and King Woods (adopted grandson) 2 Daughters Krystal S. Woods, Luida Chantal. 2 Brothers Cha rles Mathis (Doris), Charlie Mathis, 2 Sisters: Pearlie B. Thomas, Clarie Murray, 2 Aunts: Lorene Miller and Doris Word, both of Houston,Tx. Also raised 2 Nephews: Carlton Johnson Jr., Phoenix Dixon plus many more. 13 Grandchildren: Easton James, Carlson Johnston, Bentlee Woods, Britton Mae Woods, Blake Woods, Bay Woods, Brooklyn Woods,Yorhynace Woods, Yormajesti Woods, Princess Woods, Prince Woods, and Madison Woods , and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many family and friends that will truly missed Hal!!! Home Going Celebration will be held Saturday February 18,2017. The visitation will begin at 10 A.M. to 11 : 50 A.M. The service will begin at 12 o'clock noon. Both services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2495 Ed Kharbat Dr. Conroe, Texas 77301. Interment will be private.
