Alice D. GOERING
GOERING, Alice D. (Age 91) Alice D. Goering left us for a higher calling on September 20, 2016. She was born on August 28, 1925 in Peru, LaSalle, Illinois. She was one of seven children born to George and Frieda Ploch. She grew up on the family farm which she treasured. She liked to share her memories of growing up through the depression and all of the things she had seen in her lifetime. While living in LaSalle, she worked at Westclox, a maker of watches and clocks. Alice married John Goering on December 26, 1944; they had four children: John III, Jeffrey "Jeff", Lucinda "Cindy" and Julienne. John was in the Navy and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. As a Navy wife, she took great pride in how her children were cared for and boy could she cook. They raised their children in Westminster, California. She sang in the church choir for many years which meant that the whole family had to go to church on Sunday. Cindy passed away in 1977. Thereafter, John and Alice raised her son, Jeffrey Ripley, from age seven. That same year, John, Alice and Jeffrey moved to Newman Lake, Washington. Alice loved her home in Newman Lake and treasured her view of the lake and all of her dear friends in the area. Alice loved to read, work puzzle books, play cards, watch the news and drive her old Chevy. She was Citizen on Patrol for SCOPE and was quite proud of being part of this team of neighbors protecting their homes in the area. Alice could be feisty at times but always loving. She was a strong independent woman and had opinions on everything. At three o'clock daily, she would enjoy a beer in a glass with two ice cubes. She is preceded in death by her husband John, daughters Cindy and Julienne. She is survived by her sons John III (Sharon) and Jeff (Cristal); grandchildren Jeffrey (Shelley) Ripley, Jody Goering, Jacob (Dana) Sappington, Joey (Dee) Sappington, and Elisa (Jeremy) Davis; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Wright, Trent Ripley, Joah Sappington and Jayden Tate. We would like to thank the staff at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa, California for the loving care they gave Alice in her last days. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, on October 22, 2016, at the Newman Lake Tri Community Grange, 25025 E. Heather Lane, Newman Lake, Washington. If you are not able to attend the celebration, please join us in beer at 3:00 pm in memory of her life. Prost!
