Alice Jean Farris, 86, of Reedsville, W.Va., formerly of Mt. Morris, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, in Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Morgantown, W.Va. She was born Monday, June 23, 1930, in Spraggs, a daughter of the late W. Ray Moore and Edna Flossie Perry Moore. Mrs. Farris was a member of Star City Christian Assembly Church. When her health permitted, she was always active with church work. She worked as a beautician for several years and was an avid quilter. She was a homemaker. Her first husband, Edwin C. Headley, died May 31, 1957. On May 6, 1965, she married her second husband, Harry R. Farris, who died May 1, 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Len) Matscherz of Ruff Creek and Mary Lou McKahan of Ohio; three sons, Daniel E. (Sandy) Headley of Reedsville, Charles E. (Diane) Headley of Spraggs and Ronald E. Farris of Palm Bay, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her parents and husbands, are a son, Wayne E. Farris; two sisters, Verna Dragan and Mary Lou Brewer; and two brothers, James L. Moore and Edward R. Moore. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478, Mt. Morris, PA 15349. An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, October 15, in Star City Christian Assembly Church, 451 Springdale Avenue, Star City, WV, 26505, with the Rev. Willard Rowan officiating. Burial will be in Fairview-Kiger Cemetery, Whiteley Township, Greene County, with Pastor Neil Tennant officiating the graveside service.
