In memory of
Alfred Wendell Fletcher
Alfred Wendell Fletcher, 57, of Meridian, CA, passed away on December 19, 2016. Alfred known far and wide as "BIG AL" was born on May 21, 1959 to Mildred and Dave Fletcher in Yuba City, CA, and grew up in Knights Landing. Working in his youth for Faye Properties, Inc. Al enjoyed driving many forms of machinery and as the years passed would become quite adept at repairing them also. Later, he worked for Craig Tarke Farming and for the past 20 years, Kirk Gusti Farming. Al was quite handy at fixing most anything, he worked 10 years as a machinist for Robbins Motor Parts and Machine. He also worked for Lovey's Landing and was responsible for the boat dock and maintenance of the park. From an early age of 12, Al learned to hunt and fish and loved to talk to anyone that would lend an ear about both. There wasn't a coyote safe in the Meridian Basin when Al was aboard his tractor and he could filet a sturgeon in a matter of minutes as attested to by many over the years. He also enjoyed his time planting birds for and visiting with members of the Meridian Pheasant Association for the past 10 years. Al's sense of humor and his get-er-done attitude touched the hearts and lives of everyone who crossed his path. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving companion Diane Reddin of Meridian, CA, daughter Kaia Fletcher of Tulsa, OK, mother Mildred Fletcher of Sutter, CA, sister Joyce Gullett (Robert) of Knights Landing, CA, brothers Larry Fletcher (Shirley) of Llano, TX, and Jerry Fletcher (Trish) of Yuma, AZ, and 9 nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his father Dave and brother David Lee Fletcher. A gathering in "BIG Al'S" honor to be held at a later date. Send Condolences to www.appealdemocrat.com
