In memory of
Alexander G. Provos Sr.
Alexander G. Provos Sr., 71, of Dennisport passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his home on January 8, 2017. He was born in Corinthia, Greece, and grew up in Boston. Mr. Provos served overseas in the Vietnam War for the U.S. Army 1967-1969 and moved to Weymouth where he raised his family. Also known to his many friends as "Big Al" or "The Greek", he worked for Department of Corrections for 28 years and retired to the Cape. Big Al enjoyed the retired life, relaxing in the sun at the beach, following every local sports team and riding his Harley Davidson. Most importantly, he loved being with his family. He was a wonderful friend, father, grandfather and brother and that's how he will be remembered. He is survived by his close, loving sister and friend, Helen Provos from Roslindale; his two children, Alexander Jr. and his wife Sara of South Yarmouth and Christina (Provos) Cardella and her husband Daniel Cardella of Bridgewater. He is also survived by his three adored grandchildren, John of South Yarmouth and Zachary and Maddy of Bridgewater; and by his cousin, Christos Sarhanis and his wife Deborah of Exeter, N.H. Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, January 16, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Road, Centerville. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation, donations can be made to St. Georges Greek Orthodox Church. For online directions and guest book, please visit www.hallettfuneralhome.com . ...
