Albert W. "Moon" Kayes
OLEAN - Albert W. "Moon" Kayes, of 414 Center St., passed away Wednesday (April 12, 2017) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, with his loving wife by his side. Moon was born April 12, 1937, in Olean, and was a son of William and Esther Thurston Kayes. He was formerly married to Margaret Z. Sutter. On July 7, 1973, in Olean, he married his wife of 43 years, Linda L. Rank, who survives. Moon worked for Olean Lumber Company for 37 years. He served in the U.S. Marines and the National Guard in the 1950s and 1960s. Moon was a life member of the Olean Rod and Gun Club, the NRA and all the local coffee shops. Moon enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing, shooting trap and going to the Olean Oilers baseball games. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. Along with his loving wife, Moon is survived by five children, Kelly A. (Brian) Scudder of Rochester, Jeffery P. (Lisa) Kayes of Olean, Heidi L. (Michael) Tambroni of Camillus, Kathleen M. (Randall) Wandover of Little Elm, Texas, and Jenny L. Connelly of Olean; seven grandchildren, Emily, Patrick, Jordan, Gabriella, Dominick, Audrey and Sara; a brother, Henry Kayes of Eldred, Pa.; and two nieces, Heather and Holly. At Moon's request there will be no visitation and funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E.
