Albert M. Joachim, Jr. Mar. 6, 1930 - Oct. 14, 2016 SOUTH BEND - Albert M. Joachim, Jr., 86, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 1:46 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2016 in Memorial Hospital. Albert was born on March 6, 1930 in South Bend to Albert M. Joachim, Sr. and Sophia (Burys) Joachim, and was a lifelong resident. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows: Survivor, Big Brother, Notre Dame Football and the Indianapolis 500. In the past, he owned AMJ Accounting in South Bend. On June 17, 1954 in South Bend he married Betty L. Billett, who preceded him in death on October 2, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Damon; two sisters, Cecelia and Lorraine; and six brothers, Joseph, Matthew, William, Casmier, Eugene, and baby Alojzy. Albert is survived by his three sons, David Joachim of South Bend, Indiana, Michael (Gloria) Joachim of Osceola, Indiana and Mark (Janet) Joachim of Walkerton, Indiana; five grandchildren, Andy, Justin, David Jr., and Craig; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jackie Carr. Private Services, Military Rites, and Burial will take place at a later date in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Albert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #357, South Bend Maennerchor Club, and St. Joseph Young Men's Society. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart and Stroke Association.
