Albert Gutierrez Jr.
GUTIERREZ ALBERT JR. 90, of Clinton Township, passed away at home on February 13, 2017. Born in Detroit on January 2, 1927, Albert graduated from Wilber Wright High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University. Albert was a boiler operator and Superintendent in Charge of Mechanical Utilities at General Motors before he retired. He was also a Merchant Marine and had enlisted in the Navy during WWII, where he earned a Victory Medal. Al was a former President of the Scarab Club and Warren Symphony, a board member for the Macomb Arts Council, and served with the YMCA. Albert also volunteered at McLaren - Macomb Hospital until his passing. Albert is survived by his life-long partner Rachel Torres; children Aleece (John), Allan (Tina), Guy (Debbie), Gail (Jeff), Paul (Anita), and Rebekah (Jim); 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Albert is predeceased by his Ex-wife Aurora. An informal Mass will be held at Assumption Grotto - Detroit this Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. for family and friends that care to attend. A formal Memorial Service, held at a later date, will be announced. At this service, the United States Military will commemorate Al's service to his country.
