BLACKMAN, Alan Robert Of Chestnut Hill, entered into eternal rest on October 14th, 2016, at the age of 86. Survived by, and forever in love with, Joyce Weinberg Blackman, his wife of 58 years. Beloved and revered father of Stuart Blackman and his wife Joan of Needham, Maren Knight of Chestnut Hill, and Bryn Greenleaf of Bethesda, MD. Dear brother of Sybil Simon of Oakland, CA and Leonard Blackman of Naples, FL. Forever to be known as "Grumpy" to the grandchildren who adored him, Samantha Blackman and Sienna and Graedon Greenleaf. Preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Martha (nee Pritzker) Blackman. Also cherished friend of so many, and loyal servant to his collies, shelties and cats over the years. Alan was born on April 9, 1930 in East Providence, RI. He attended Colby College, and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He lived with fierce determination and passion in all he did, from his career as a real estate investor and financier, to playing squash and tennis competitively, to studying and collecting art, to refining his photographer's eye and filling our homes with the stunning results. But most of all, he devoted every fiber of himself to the love of his life, Joyce. Service today, Sunday, October 16th at 1 pm at Levine Chapel, 470 Harvard St., BROOKLINE followed by internment at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Brookline and reception until early evening at the Blackman residence in Chestnut Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association or the MSPCA. Levine Chapels, Brookline 617-277-8300
