AHMAD MOKHTARZADEH Ph.D.
MOKHTARZADEH, Ahmad PH.D. Of Gloucester, aged 83, passed away March 7, 2017. He was the loving husband of Brigitte Becker Mokhtarzadeh of Gloucester with whom he was married for 56 years; father of Mitra Perel of Danvers; brother of Shori Golshan of McLean, VA; brother to Mahmoud Mokhtarzadeh and Mehri Sobhani, both of Shiraz, Iran. He was also the doting grandfather of Sam and Nina Perel. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Ahmad was born in Fassa, Iran in 1933 and attended Tehran University. He received a scholarship to study further in the United States where he met and married Brigitte of Erfurt, Germany. He received a doctorate at the University of California, Davis in Agronomy in 1962 and became a professor at Pahlavi University in Shiraz. He left Iran with his family after the revolution and settled in Leesburg, VA while working for the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. With the FAO he improved crop production in Somalia, Vietnam, Namibia, Western Samoa, and other Polynesian island groups. Ahmad will be remembered as a warm hearted and good natured man who regularly put the needs of others before his own. He was a born story teller who catalogued his many interests from plant genetics to Gloucester's flora and fauna to family genealogy to photos of his many adventures and celebrations.
