Adele Colella Adele Colella, 87, passed away on January 10, 2017 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette, Indiana. Adele was born November 12, 1929 in Milano, Italy to the late Mario and Angela (Lucchini) Gervasoni. She grew up in Italy and graduated from Milano Catholic University with a degree in philosophy. She eventually married Roberto Colella on December 26, 1960 in Rome. The couple just celebrated 56 years of faithful, devoted, and loving marriage. Adele worked as an instructor at Cornell University for four years before moving to West Lafayette in 1971 where she has been a resident ever since. Adele taught Italian in the foreign language department at Purdue and along with her husband, the couple was responsible for establishing the Science and Faith lecture series at Purdue University. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in West Lafayette and extremely active in ecumenical relations in Indiana. She was also a pioneer in the Midwest for the establishment of the Focolare movement for the Catholic Church. Adele was a devoted wife and loving mother. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Adele is survived by her husband, Roberto; three children, Chiara Colella of Sequim, Washington, Lucia (husband Bob) Colella-Yantosca, and Emanuele (wife Lucia) Colella of Malnate, Italy. She is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Tullio. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 535 West State Street, West Lafayette, Indiana 47906. Father Patrick Baikauskas, OP will officiate. Rite of Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette.
