Adam Deemer, 90, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Greensburg, a son of the late Alberta Gettemy and the late Adam Deemer Sr. Prior to his retirement, Adam was employed at Brown Boveri. He also had worked at Montgomery Ward and Sears. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg. Adam was a World War II veteran, having served with the Army. He was a member of the West Point Fire Hall and the Roosevelt Club, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He had also received the Five Gallon Pin from the American Red Cross. Adam was a very dedicated father and grandfather and was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret; their children, Joanne Kernicky, Don Deemer and Irene Smith (Chris); grandchildren, Jody Campbell (Ed) and Michael Kernicky (Jennifer); and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Paige. He is also survived by half siblings, Bill Gettemy, Faye Good and Virginia Knotts. Many thanks to the staff at St. Anne Home for their care and compassion. Friends will be received form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg. Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg. Entombment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
