SURDY ADA MAE Age 94, passed away on April 11, 2017, at Kane Regional Hospital, Ross Twp., Pennsylvania. Ada was born on April 20, 1922, in Homestead, Pennsylvania to Walter and Sarah Daum. Ada grew up in Homestead, Pennsylvania and graduated from Homestead High School in 1940. After high school, she held various jobs and found her time at Columbia Hospital in Wilkinsburg as her most rewarding occupation. Ada was the proud grandmother to Lynn Ann Atkinson, Jennifer Trainor, Joseph Trainor, Jr., Jeremiah Henderson (Melissa) and Jessica Trainor; as well as four great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Robert C. Trainor, Jr. of The Villages, Florida, Joseph E. Trainor, Sr., (Karen), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her brother Arthur Daum (Nancy), Monroeville, Pennsylvania; her sister Donna Whitlam of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, as well as loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Her loving husbands, Raymond W. Surdy, Frederick Kreiger and Robert C. Trainor, Sr., predeceased her. Ada was an avid reader, loved to work crossword puzzles and enjoyed playing and teaching Wii bowling to fellow seniors. There will be a private funeral. A memorial luncheon will be held at a later date with the location to be determined. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Ada's name to the "Make-A-Wish Foundation", Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
