In memory of
Molly Mangham Douglass
Molly Mangham Douglass passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. She was the beloved wife of George Douglass, Jr. for the last 58 years and the mother of Molly Hadden (Corky), Melissa Steiner (Jerry) and Michelle Tyler (Doug). She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Margaret, John, William, Jourdan, Hannah, Jake, Julie, Jill, and 6 great grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Francis Ray and Louise Ratliff Mangham, and sister of the late Michael (Mickey) Ray Mangham. She is survived by her sister-in-law Melinda Waller Mangham, her loving nieces Lainey Jones and Liz Mangham, and other nieces and nephews. Molly or "Mimi" as she was known to her grandchildren was born in Fort Worth, Texas and spent her high school years in Bethesda, Maryland. She came to New Orleans to attend Newcomb College and graduated from Tulane University Business School in 1960. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and served as their president. She continued to be an active alum in the following years. It was here in New Orleans that she met George and raised her family. She was a lifelong member of the Junior League and sang in the choir at church. They lived in New Orleans until 1990 when they moved to Slidell, Louisiana where they spent the next 26 years and just recently returned to live in Metairie. It was in Slidell that her love of dancing encouraged her to be a member of the Camellia City Golden Girls who won the Gold medal in line dancing at the Louisiana 2001 Senior Games. Molly was the most loving and generous person who never complained or spoke badly of anyone. She was the light of our lives and we will miss her dearly. The family would like to thank Shirley Guidry for her years of friendship to our Mom. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services held in the Chapel at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, Louisiana 70124, on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Lighthouse Louisiana, WRBH Reading Radio, or a charity of your choice.
