Ms. Melanie June Smith, 55, of Mayo, FL, passed away at her residence on August 13, 2018 in Mayo, FL. Melanie was born September 15, 1962 in Lake City, Florida to Mr. Giles Bynum Smith and Mrs. Edith Irene Marcum Smith. She was a graduate of Columbia High School where she sang in the Chorus. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Airline Baptist Church. Melanie was a loving and devoted mother, homemaker, and companion who enjoyed talking with her daughters about school, crocheting, and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Bailey Smith, and 2 sisters, Deborah Diane Deese and Lisa Marie Westerfeldt. Smith is survived by; her 2 daughters, Veronica "Lucy" Lucero Zamora and Angelica Maribelle Zamora, both of Mayo; 3 brothers, Huel Wayne Watson, of Tallahassee, FL, John Bynum Smith, of Lake City, FL, and Greg Franklin Smith, of Milton, FL; a sister, April Irene Tompkins, of Lake City, FL; her companion, Rony Betancourth, of Mayo; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Bro. Pat Raulerson officiating.
