Funeral services for Maurice Nolen Burton, 98, of DeRidder, Louisiana will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at First Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana with Pastors Lindsey Burns and Josh Eubanks officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Beauregard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018, and before the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Church. Maurice was born February 12, 1920, in Vernon Parish, to Sulange and Janie Lacaze and has lived in DeRidder since 1946. She passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Maurice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Jane Morrison Kennedy and husband, Luther Kennedy of DeRidder, stepson David Burton and wife, Carolyn and stepdaughter Marilyn Gremillion also of DeRidder; four grandchildren, Randy Morrison and wife, Karen of Leesville, Lindy Moore and husband, Mike of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Lisa McKenney and husband, Tripp of Atlanta, Georgia and Amy Storey and husband, Jason also of Atlanta; three great-grandchildren, Chase Moore (Amy) of Denver, Colorado, Whitney Bass (Chance) of DeRidder and John BurtonStorey of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Clifford Nolen and second husband Leslie Burton and son, Gordon, two sisters and four brothers. Maurice was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder and taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for early childhood classes. She was also a member of the Church Choir and known as the Flower Lady. She was a member of the Beauregard Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of the Thursday Study Club, DeRidder Garden Club and an aid at DeRidder High School. Maurice was a devout Christian woman who steadfastly believed in family, hard work, honesty and serving the Lord until her final days. The family would like to thank Dr. Granger and the staff of Beauregard Memorial Hospital. Appreciation is also extended to Westwood Manor Nursing Home for their dedicated care provided during her last five years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maurice's memory can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, the Agape Clinic or to the charity of one's choice.
