In memory of
Matthew J. Dooley
Matthew Dooley, 64, went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2019. Born and raised in New York, Matt attended Clarkson University and eventually moved to Granby, CT for a career in engineering at Combustion Engineering, ABB, Alstom, and GE that would take him around the world. Matt loved sailing, particularly taking the Queen Bee to Block Island and Watch Hill. He also enjoyed working with ham radios and the Coast Guard in New London. He retired early so that he could serve with New Tribes Missions in Papua New Guinea and for the last few years has served as their base mechanic. Matt was diagnosed with advanced cancer while home for medical care, and underwent treatment until the Lord called him home. He leaves behind his children Sarah (Karlos) Sotelo, Kathryn (John) Entner, and Patrick (Maida) Dooley, as well as their mother Debra Smith Dooley, and grandchildren Sofia and Gabriela Sotelo. He also leaves his sister Helen (Nicholas) DeMaria and sister-in-law Indra Dooley, his niece Victoria DeMaria, nephew Stephen Dooley, and countless friends and colleagues. Matt was predeceased by his brother Francis Dooley. Services will be held at Westfield Evangelical Free Church at 568 Southwick Road in Westfield, MA on Saturday 9/21/19 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to New Tribes Mission, now Ethnos360.
