In memory of
Matthew Gary "Matt" Alofs
Alofs, Matthew "Matt" Gary 2/7/1990 - 2/9/2020 Matthew "Matt" Gary Alofs born February 7, 1990, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2020. Matt's magnetic personality drew everyone in. He could make you laugh with his goofy demeanor and make you smile with a quick witty quip. He had a love of golf (thanks to his dad, Gary), loved his mom's apple pie and was always ready to take on the next adventure...especially if it was a trip to Disney World. He had many friends in the disc golf community, which was a favorite pastime, along with billiards. He was a loving son, a brother to be proud of, an uncle who spoiled his nieces and nephews and a friend who would give you the shirt off his back. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bena and Gaylord Alofs, Joyce Carpenter and Bernard Veldkamp and his nephew, Cohen Kelly. He will lovingly be remembered by his parents, Gary and Laura Alofs, sisters Amanda (Daran) Deemter, Heather (Jon) O'Neil, Jennifer (Brett) Jackson, Lacy (Nate) Kelly and Jamie Carter, nephews and nieces Carter, Natalee, Beckett, Hayleigh, Layla, Remi Jo, Tristan and Madeline, along with many friends, both lifelong and new. As a final earthly gift, Matt was on the national donor registry. Through this gesture, the family prays that other families will be able to see their loved ones live. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Metro hospital for their efforts and care shown to Matt and the family, as well as the Gift of Life of Michigan team for their care and compassion. "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, just a dream away." Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, February 14, 2020 at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 5250 Byron Center Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet his family from 4-7 PM Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville, and Friday, February 14, 2020 from 10-11 AM at the church. His family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com .
