Mary Ann (Stueve-Douvier) Schonher, 80 La Crosse, WI Formerly of Albany May 1, 1932 - November 8, 2012 Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 150 Second Street South, Albany, MN, 56307, for MaryAnn (Stueve-Douvier) Schonher, 80, who died Thursday, November 8, 2012 in La Crosse, WI. MaryAnn was a vibrant, healthy woman, but after only two months of fighting, cancer took her from us. Rev. Michael Naugton, OSB and Rev. Corwin Collins will concelebrate and entombment will be at the Seven Dolors Parish Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, November 16, 2012 and 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be prayed at 4:00 P.M. Friday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Avon. MaryAnn was born on May 1, 1932 in St. Anthony to Henry and Katherine (Loehlien) Stueve. She married Lawrence Douvier on November 20, 1951 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1999. MaryAnn was a home maker and farmed with Lawrence in Albany, where they raised six wonderful children. In 1989 the couple retired from farming and MaryAnn spent the next few years working at numerous restaurants in the area. She was known as the "Fet Kuchen Queen" and made fet kuchen (fried bread) at numerous events across the county. She donated the money she earned to numerous charities, especially to install a "Pro-Life Across America" billboard on the interstate near Albany. She was an advocate for the un-born and a very outspoken republican. In 2005 MaryAnn started wintering in Arizona where she met Carell Schonher. They were quite the pair and on February 16, 2009 they were married. They spent the next three years, traveling between West Salem, WI and Apache Junction, AZ, picking rocks, fishing, playing cards, throwing horseshoes, and visiting family and friends. MaryAnn was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, St. Ann's Catholic Aid Assn., Holdingford American Legion Auxiliary, St Agnes Mission Group, Seven Dolors Christian Mothers, MCCL, North Star 4-H, Albany Hospice, and the Republican Party. MaryAnn made a difference and was known for her dependability and her forward thinking. Survivors include her husband, Carell; children, Mary (Al) Jackson of Coon Rapids, Diane (Mike) Noll of Albany, Doris (Rick) Chubb of Ramsey, Alice (Ted) Salli of Watertown WI, Steve (Brenda Budde) Douvier of Albany, Paul (Charlene Roles) Douvier of San Diego CA, Beja (Jeff) Marshall of Davenport, IA, Brenda (John) Lay of Bettendorf, IA, Bonnie Bloomfield of La Crosse WI; 24 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lawrence; an infant son; 5 sisters, two infants, Agatha Stueve, Florentine Hoppe, and Pauline Hoffman; and 4 brothers, Sylvester, Lambert, Walbert and Jerome. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Pro-Life Across America.
